Pressure Phasing

In some eyes, the intra-ocular pressures can vary during the course of the day. A phasing test is when we repeat the pressure readings over a period of time to help ensure that we do not miss any importamt information. In an 'All Day Phasing' test, the readings are taken at 9.30am, 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 2.00, 3.00 and 4.00pm. We also perform 'Morning Only' phasing tests until 12.30. The pressure readings only take a couple of minutes each time, so the patient will be free to explore the West End between measurements.

This test may be carried out in conjunction with other tests requested by the consultant, which will be fitted-in during the course of the day.

Please note that if ocular photography is requested, this will be left until after the last pressure reading as the dilating drops may affect the pressure readings.
