Purpose:
To see if there are intra-ocular pressure changes happening during the course of the day. The pressure of the fluids in the eye can vary from hour to hour, so a reading in the afternoon may be quite diffrerent to one in the morning. A phasing test allows us to see if there are any particular times of the day when the eyes are at risk from elevated pressure.
Procedure:
The pressure measurements are carried out at 9.30, 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 2.00, 3.00 and 4.00. The patient is free to leave the clinic between the measurements which take a minute or two. For more information about the pressure readings, click here.
How Long Will It Take?
An 'All-Day' Phasing is from 9.30 to 4.00 and an 'AM' Phasing from 9.30 to 12.30.
Preparation:
Contact lens must be removed for the pressure measurements. If possible, bring glasses instead.
